Known for their iconic dancehall steps like Tuff Groove, Same SuhHypnotize and Strange LoveCrazyshellingz have carved out a name for themselves in the Dancehall scene. Their explosive energy and signature moves are impossible to ignore. I had the chance to catch up with Romaine, who's better known as Pureflow, and Andre alias Mastergroove in Kingston to talk about their journey, inspirations and personal stories. Here’s an inside look at the lives of the two dancers.

Creation of Crazyshellingz

The crew was originally formed in 2014 by Pureflow’s brother and his friend. At the time, Pureflow was very young and just starting out dancing. When the original team stopped dancing, Pureflow decided to keep the name alive and began searching for new members. The search didn't take long and he came across Mastergroove, who comes from the same area around Bog Walk and had been dancing with different crews already. He joined the crew in 2020.

Life Before Professional Dance

GT: What did you do before dancing?

Pureflow: I’ve always been dancing. I only started doing it more professionally after COVID.

Mastergroove: Before dancing professionally, I worked at JPS (Jamaica's only electricity utility). I also started after the pandemic.

The Power behind the moves? Pure Vibes!

GT: What inspires you the most to do your moves?

'It's just the Vibes', they both agree.

Pureflow: You play the music and you feel like you just have to do a move. You put 1 and 2 together and it becomes a whole new move. We wait until the vibe kicks in and then create something different.

Favorite Moves?

GT: Which one is your personal favorite step out of all Crazyshellingz moves?

For Pureflow, it's the sensual energy of Sexual Healing.

Mastergroove? He's all about spreading the Good Mood.

Beyond the Dancefloor: What keeps them energized.

GT: Except from dancing, what gives you energy?

Pureflow says music is his biggest source of energy.

Mastergroove: For me it's music and meditation.

Across the Globe: Favorite Spots in Europe

Both dancers have toured through Europe, but two countries stood out:

Pureflow fell in love with Germany, especially the dance scene in Hamburg: 'I love the people and the dance community there. It’s really nice.'

Mastergroove preferred Romania for similar reasons — the people, the vibes, and the community energy.

Dream Destinations

GT: Which place would you love to visit?

Pureflow dreams of Dubai and Africa. 'There’s a lot of Dancehall in Africa. The people love it. Even if I don’t make a lot of money there, I want to experience the culture and just share' .

Mastergroove, on the other hand, feels a special pull toward the UK: 'I feel like I am from the UK.'

Dance Inspirations

Growing up, both dancers looked up to Jamaican legends Black Eagles and Overload Skankaz.

Pureflow explains: 'We weren’t into social media much back then. But I saw them dancing, teaching and traveling — that inspired me.'

Mastergroove shares the same sentiment: 'We’re from the same place. They’re the ones who inspired us. And now, we all share the same HQ.'

One Fact You Didn’t Know About Them

I had to ask — what’s something no one knows?

Pureflow: I’m afraid of Cockroaches.

Mastergroove: I feel different. I like to keep my things private. In Jamaican slang, we call it Alien. So it’s like I’m an Alien.

From local roots to global stages, Pureflow and Mastergroove show us that true passion, connection to culture, and good vibes can take you anywhere. Whether you're vibing in Hamburg or dancing in Kingston, Crazyshellingz proves that dance is a universal language — spoken best with heart.
